Flower and Burning

THE FLOWER AND THE BURNING

In the stark mid-winter
Felt my heart
unfolding
like a fragile flower
in early bloom

Heat was burning on me
Fire burned within
'till the rain
and cold winds
lost their gloom

I climbed the mountains
of the wild lands
inside me
Their towering peaks
beneath my feet

I'd see the valleys
fertile, green
and promising
a place
where we could meet

But you never noticed
the flower or the burning
from the valley
that hides you well
and you couldn't notice
as time passed
in your valley
there were mountains
from which I fell

But I hope you know this
I was searching for you
I felt so sure I'd find you for a spell

Coming now to Springtime
though ice still claims the land
and the fragile flower
perished
in the chill

Nothing lasts for ever
Nothing lasts at all
except the fire
that burns
within me still

Somewhere
in the wild lands
lost
and gone astray
a lone soul
seeks a way
that's hard to find

This is Brian
missing Rachel
hugs and kisses
underlined

You wouldn't notice
the flower or the burning
from the valley
that hides you well
How could you know this?
I thought I'd reach your valley
There were mountains
from which
I fell

This is Brian
missing Rachel
hugs and kisses
underlined

This is Brian
missing Rachel
hugs and kisses
underlined
