CHAPTER
EIGHT I drew
ever closer to Clio, but I was ill
and in trouble. Poor health and distraction
had joined together to put me
in a potentially serious situation.
No money for food or drink.
Barely enough strength to stagger
into town. I waited to play a
terrace for a basic survival fund, but
buskers swarmed. Ken came to the
rescue once more with an extremely
noble gesture. Restored a
little with a decent meal I braved the
Munster, delivering an emotional
set. Clio came and offered
an overnight refuge from the
chill of the camping. The hare was in
a bad way. The tortoise plods
on.
